Amani Starnes is an interdisciplinary performance scholar, performer, writer, dramaturg, and producer whose research, writing, creative practice, and teaching center Black feminist performance. She has performed and dramaturgically consulted under the direction of lauded stage and screen directors including Lin Manuel Miranda, Tim Robbins, Donald Glover, Jill Soloway, Craig Lucas, Shatara Ford, and Young Jean Lee. Starnes holds a PhD in theater and performance studies from Stanford University. She is an assistant professor of theatre at Pomona College.
